  • International applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
    • He or she holds (or is about to hold) a Bachelor’s degree
    • He or she is not a citizen of Korea
    • His or her parents are not citizens of Korea

    • Korean proficiency: A "TOPIK" certificate for level 3 or higher
    • English proficiency: A score report from a recognized English proficiency test such as - TOEFL 530(CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600점, TOEIC 700 or higher
    • Be a native English speaker
    • A confirmation letter of English or Korean proficiency issued by the department after the initial admission interview. (May 23 - June 1)

Submission of Application

All required documents should be submitted to the Office of International Affairs using one of the following methods:

    • In person
    • By Post (either express or regular registered post-mail)
  • Application Period: September 27(Thurs) ~ October 12(Fri) in 2018, by 18:00
  • Where to Submit: The Office of International Affairs at Kyungpook National University (Global Plaza 6F, Room 608)
  • How to Submit: Applicants should submit completed and printed application forms downloaded from the online application site, along with required documents ①~⑪ in section Required Documents. (Financial documents should be submitted after the department interview, except for applicants who can submit financial documents indicating funds of about USD18,000.
    ※ All required documents must be submitted by the last day of the application period.

Qualification Screening

  • Screening Period: October 15(Mon) ~ October 19(Fri), 2018
  • Screening Method: Examination of the suitability of applicants academic background and language proficiency, so as to be deemed as “qualified” or “unqualified.”

  • Screening Method: Comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s previous degree performance, language eligibility, study plan, and major knowledge, so as to be deemed as “qualified” or “unqualified.”

  • Required Financing Amount: USD18,000

    ※ Applicants who can submit the financial documents indicating support funds of USD18,000 can submit the document with the other application documents.

  • Required documents must meet one of the following criteria ①, ②, ③ :
    • ① If the applicant is the financial guarantor self-financing the cost of study
      • Submit the original bank certificate of deposit balance (in English) showing the amount of USD18,000.
      • ※ Must be issued within 30 days prior to the submission date. If there is an expiration date on the documents, it is valid till the expiration date. (The deposit should remain in place until and after February 2019).

    • ② If the financial guarantor is a parent
      • Submit the original bank certificate of deposit balance (in English) showing the amount of USD18,000.
      • Employment Certificate or Business Registration Certificate from a financial guarantor (Korean or English)
      • ※ Issued within 30 days prior to the submission date.

        ※ Brothers and sisters can be guarantors only in case of parents’ absence.

    • ③ Scholarship certificate from other organization
      • If applicants are financially supported from their own countries’ government or another organization
      • If an academic advisor is the financial guarantor, the academic advisor's certificate of financial support and his/her employment certificate can be substituted for the above documents. (KNU format will be provided to academic advisors directly upon request)
    • ※ If the total amount of scholarship or support funds is less than USD18,000, the applicant will have to submit the original bank certificate of deposit balance for the remaining amount as required per ① or ②.

Academic Degree Verification Documents

  • Benefits: 100% or 50% of tuition fees waived
  • Scholarship students will be selected every semester up to the 4th semester contingent on the following
    • New international students: academic performance (i.e. grades), language ability, knowledge of major, etc.
    • Enrolled students:

      • ② Receiving higher than a B0 grade in the previous semester
  • Scholarship beneficiaries will be selected every semester.

Important Notes for Applicants

  1. All documents should be in Korean or English. Documents in another language should be accompanied by a notarized Korean or English translation.
  2. If any required documents are found to be false or counterfeit, your application will be canceled.
  3. Any applicant submitting a certificate of expected graduation must submit the original copy or a notarized copy of the graduation certificate before beginning their first semester at Kyungpook National University.
  4. The Office of International Affairs is not responsible for application cancellation due to incorrect contact information (such as address and phone number, etc.).
  5. If an applicant’s visa is not issued or is rejected, his or her application will be canceled.
  6. Applicants receiving a scholarship from another institution are not required to submit a certificate of financial guarantee; however, they must submit a certificate/letter from the institution confirming that they will pay your tuition during your period of study at Kyungpook National University.
  7. No submitted documents or application fees will be returned to the applicant. (Original copies of certificates of degree will be returned after the screening process is completed.)
  8. Applicants should remember one’s application number which is issued after the online application.
