KNU Selected as “Excellent Certified University” for Education Internationalization Capabilities for 2nd Consecutive Year

Kyungpook National University announced on February 25th that it has been selected as an "Excellent Certified University," the highest such evaluation, for the second consecutive year in the "2024 Education Internationalization Certification Evaluations" announced by the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice implement the "Education Internationalization Certification Evaluations” annually to strengthen the capabilities of universities to attract and manage robust international student populations. Among the universities that pass these annual evaluations, those with particularly excellent internationalization capabilities are selected as "Excellent Certified Universities" through further deliberation.
KNU has maintained its certified university status for 11 consecutive years since 2015, and has been selected as an "Excellent Certified University" for two consecutive years, starting last year.
KNU hosts 2,211 international students from 72 countries in regular degree programs (1,219 students) and 67 countries in non-degree programs such as exchange and other short-term programs (992 students). To support their successful academic achievement and adaptation to life in Korea, the university operates various programs including mentoring and learning support programs, KNU International Day, Challenge Korea, and career and employment camps. In this year’s certification evaluations, KNU received excellent scores across the board, including in the indexes of illegal stay rate, tuition burden rate, dropout rate, certified language proficiency of degree program students, and academic and living support for international students.
Certified universities not only benefit from relaxed screening criteria for issuing visas to international students, but they also receive preferential treatment for participation in overseas Korean study abroad fairs. Moreover, excellent certified universities receive additional benefits such as an expanded list of countries eligible for simplified visa issuance and additional points in the selection of universities to receive government-sponsored scholarship students.
