KNU ranks in the 401–500th range globally, and ties for 1st among flagship national universities.
Kyungpook National University (KNU) has placed in the 401–500th range globally in the "2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities” (ARWU). Among South Korean universities, KNU tied for 10th place, while securing a tie for 1st place among flagship national universities.
The ARWU evaluates university research performance based on six quantitative indicators: Alumni (Number of alumni winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals): 10%; Award (Number of staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals): 20%; HiCi (Number of Highly Cited Researchers): 20%; N&S (Number of research articles published in Nature and Science between 2021 and 2025): 20%; PUB (Number of papers indexed in SCIE and SSCI in 2025: 20%; PCP (Per capita academic performance by full-time faculty): 10%.
By making the top 500 globally and tying for 1st place among flagship national universities in this evaluation, KNU has once again demonstrated its world-class research competitiveness.
