University-Industry Cooperation in One Place: Kyungpook National University Hosts Successful 1st Tech Fair

Kyungpook National University announced on the 16th that it successfully concluded the 1st Tech Fair at KNU Global Plaza, which was held for three days from November 13th to 15th.

Held for the first time this year, the fair was advertised under the slogan of ‘Kyungpook National University Tech Fair, Where 77 Years of History and Innovation Meet,’ and was designed to introduce the university’s promising technologies and research results while also providing a venue for communication and cooperation with the local community.

The opening ceremony, held at Global Plaza Hyoseok Hall on the 13th, was attended by about 700 people, including KNU President Hong Won-hwa, Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong-ho, and Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo.

At this tech fair, KNU introduced the excellent achievements of 17 national project groups, including the LINC Business Group, through a poster exhibition, and also operated a booth promoting the excellent technologies and prototypes of 24 related organizations, including subsidiaries of technology holding companies.

Other related events were also held, including a job fair and special lectures on cover letters and personal statements, AI, and entrepreneurship for students preparing for employment or starting a business, as well as technology transfer briefing sessions for companies, investment consultations (meetups), and IR competitions. The Entrepreneurship, Thesis, and Robotics Competition, which presented the results of university undergraduate and graduate student research and activities, was also successfully completed. As for the Start-Up Competition, Kim Jun-seok of the Department of Computer Science took first place in the domestic competition, while the TRIPPO team (Dmitrii Iakovlev and Anna Sedova) took first place in the foreign competition. The grand prize for the Graduate Student Thesis Competition was awarded to Ph.D. student Kim Kyeong-min of the Department of Medical Sciences, and the grand prize for the Robot Competition was awarded to the Listerine team.

In addition, various programs such as a “talk concert” (a venue for public or famous figures to give talks and lead discussions) featuring civil servant Kim Seon-tae, famous as a public relations person for Chungju City, and Sungkyunkwan University Professor Choi Jae-bung, an expert on the Fourth Industrial Revolution; as well as a flea market, VR experiences, and one-day classes were held, attracting not only university members but also local residents.

At the end of the event, KNU President Hong Won-hwa noted, “Through this KNU 1st Tech Fair, we believe that universities, industries, and students have all gained beneficial experiences and results tailored to their respective purposes. We ask for your continued interest in Kyungpook National University’s exciting events and innovations.”
