KNU Hosts 2023 AI Festival

The Kyungpook National University Artificial Intelligence Innovation Convergence University Project Group held the 2023 Artificial Intelligence Festival on September 9th, 2023, at Gyeongha Hall in Global Plaza. The festival was attended by companies from the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association and the Daekyung ICT Association.

The goals of the artificial intelligence festival were to implement prototypes for sustainable collaboration models through university-industry cooperation, provide a forum for seminars and discussions that are helpful for departmental major education, create various networking opportunities between companies through technology exchanges, experience the products and services of AI-specialized companies, provide successful employment consulting and employment support through AI company recruitment counseling, strategize global regional bases in the AI field, establish a system of AI industry-academia cooperation, and share AI education issues while identifying agendas for problem-solving industry-university projects.

The artificial intelligence festival featured three sessions: 

1) Academic Session (Gyeongha Hall II): Opening speech by KNU’s Artificial Intelligence Innovation Convergence University Project Group leader Jeong Ho-young, followed by presentations by Jang Dong-in (KAIST) on "2024 AI Trends: From LLM to NPU," Jeong Il-ok (Egloo Corporation) on "How AI Can Be a Game-Changer in the Security Field with ChatGPT," Shin Dong-hwa (Triplet) on "AI Industry Trends and Successful Cases of Image Analysis," and Jeong Young-beom (Furiosa AI) on "Low-Power, High-Performance AI Inference Semiconductors." 

2) Technology Session (Gyeongha Hall I): Presentation by Kim Il-kyung, a KNU industry-academia professor, on AI industry-academia platforms and cooperation plans, as well as presentations by Haga Co., Ltd.; Itec Korea Co., Ltd.; Pintell Co., Ltd.; Soltlook Co., Ltd.; and Sweet Care Co., Ltd., on their respective companies and technologies. 

3) Recruitment Session (Gyeongha Hall I): Fourteen companies (including the Korea Chemical Convergence Test Research Institute, the Korea Electromechanical and Electronic Test Research Institute, Soltlook, MBC Playbee Co., Ltd., Imprimed, Seo Corporation, Wookyeong Information Technology, and Ciel Mobility) held open interviews for KNU undergraduate and graduate students.

Jeong Ho-young, head of the KNU Artificial Intelligence Innovation Convergence University Project Group, noted, "Through this event, we will be able to cultivate outstanding talent through academic, technical, and employment-related comprehensive AI events, new attempts in AI education and talent development within universities, and collaboration with AI companies with technical capabilities. We expect to form a broad AI network through cooperation between the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association and Kyungpook National University, and between AI companies based in Seoul and ICT companies in Daegu and Gyeongbuk."

Meanwhile, the following people also attended in support of the event: Kim Geon-hoon, Executive Vice President of the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association; Park Yoon-ha, Chairman of the Daekyung ICT Association; Park Nam-geun, Director of the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency; Lee Sang-moon, Dean of the Department of Electronics Engineering at Kyungpook National University; and Kim Jang-hyun, Professor at Sungkyunkwan University.
