Kyungpook National University (KNU) Ranks No. 1 Among National Universities in S. Korea in "THE Asia University Rankings" for 3rd Consecutive Year

Kyungpook National University ranked 87th in the THE Asian University Rankings 2024 (14th in South Korea, and 1st among national universities) recently released by Times Higher Education (THE), a global university evaluation agency in the U.K. This is the result of a 90-step jump from last year's 177th place in Asia, thus firmly securing and maintaining KNU’s position since it topped the national university rankings in 2022.
The evaluation areas of the THE Asia University Rankings were ‘Educational Conditions” (24.5%), “Quality of Research” (30%), “Research Environment” (28%), “Industry-Academia Cooperation” (10%), and “Internationalization” (7.5%); KNU saw its scores rise significantly across all indicators. In particular, the areas of "Quality of Research" and "Research Environment" saw increases of over 18 points, which brought KNU up to rank 59th in "Research Environment," an indication of its growing pedigree as a research-oriented university. In addition, KNU ranked 10th in Korea in the area of "Industry-Academia Cooperation," faithfully playing a role in growing alongside local industries as a flagship national university; and it ranked 9th in Korea in the "Internationalization" area, a fitting result for KNU, as it is an officially designated "Excellent Certified University."
Kyungpook National University also placed among the 501-600th rank in the THE World University evaluation released in October of last year, showing a significant increase from its 801-1,000th rank in the previous year, while maintaining its No. 1 position among Korean national universities for the fourth consecutive year.
