Kyungpook National University ranked 42nd in the world and 2nd in Korea in the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, which were announced recently by THE, a global university evaluation agency.

The ‘THE World University Impact Rankings’ considers not only a university’s research power (number of papers and citations, etc.), but also its social and global responsibilities as important evaluation factors. The evaluation criteria comprise the contributions toward the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. A total of 1,591 universities from 112 countries participated in this year's evaluation, an increase of about 200 universities compared to last year.

Among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), KNU Ranked 28th in the world for Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and 33rd for Zero Hunger (SDG 2).

KNU President Hong Won-hwa noted, “KNU has consistently performed well in the THE World University Impact Rankings, which places great emphasis on the social responsibilities of universities. We will continue to strive to promote communication and cooperation with the local community, continue to pursue world-class studies and research, and at the same time, do our best to realize the society that SDGs aim for.”
