Kyungpook National University (KNU) Aims to Expand Student Exchanges with Prestigious American Universities in the Semiconductor Field

Kyungpook National University (KNU) recently visited the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and Southern Utah University (SUU) to discuss collaboration plans for expanding research and education in the field of semiconductors and increased student exchanges.
Kyungpook National University (KNU) President Hong Won-hwa visited the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in the United States to meet with UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield. The two leaders discussed various ways to collaborate in areas of strength between the two universities, and as a first step, they agreed to launch a student short-term exchange program starting this year. UNLV was founded in 1957 and is a public comprehensive university located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The university's hotel management program is ranked among the top in the world. UNLV President Whitfield expressed strong interest in KNU's semiconductor capabilities. He agreed to actively pursue collaboration between KNU's IT College and UNLV's College of Engineering, which is currently planning to revitalize its engineering program.
Following his visit to UNLV, KNU President Hong Won-hwa visited Southern Utah University (SUU) to meet with SUU President Mindy Benson and other officials to discuss expanding cooperation. SUU was founded in 1897 as a state university in Cedar City, Utah, and offers 150 undergraduate and 32 graduate programs. KNU and SUU signed a memorandum of understanding in April, 2023. On this day, the two universities exchanged views on expanding student and faculty exchanges, and also agreed to create a dual degree program in the field of education.

We will continue to operate a variety of specialized overseas programs, and provide opportunities for students to gain diverse international experiences and broaden their horizons.”
