Kyungpook National University has been selected as the final operator of the "Urban Regeneration Professional Training College Project" sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.

In the future, the government will focus on nurturing masters and doctorate-level professionals who will lead the urban renewal New Deal project in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and the Daegu Metropolitan Government on the 20th, six places, including Kyungpook National University (Daegu, Gyeongbuk), Korea University (Seoul), Inha University (Incheon), Chungbuk National University, Kyungsung University (Busan), and Gwangju National University, were selected for the contest.

Kyungpook National University will receive 190 million won in state funds every year from this year to 2024. It will also establish a department for urban regeneration soon. The department is divided into a continuous regeneration track and an urban regeneration activist track.

Kyungpook National University is planning to recruit masters and doctorate students from the second half of this year. According to the Daegu Metropolitan Government, Kyungpook National University proposed a curriculum that can nurture talented people with both theoretical and practical skills so that they can be immediately deployed to urban regeneration sites after completing the course.

Earlier, Daegu City formed a "super-wide consultative body" with Gyeongbuk Province, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute, Daegu Urban Corporation, Daegu Creative Urban Regeneration Support Center, Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, and Gyeongbuk Urban Regeneration Support Center.

The purpose of the plan is to continue to support Kyungpook National University to provide systematic education in the fields of education, research, and practical affairs in cooperation between Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province.
